Gossip releases new album via Columbia Germany
Gossip is back! Today (22/03/2024), the band released their first album in over a decade titled “Real Power.” This album, except for the US, is being marketed worldwide from the Berlin office of Columbia Records Germany. The new record marks a reunion with producer Rick Rubin, who previously produced their groundbreaking album “Music For Men” (2009).
To appropriately announce the band’s return and the new album, a series of exclusive campaigns and events preceded the album release. The first released singles, ‘Crazy Again‘ (17/11/23) and ‘Real Power‘ (19/01), not only secured appearances on German TV shows like GZSZ, the Helene Fischer Show, and Late Night Berlin but also landed front singer Beth Ditto a photo shoot including a cover feature in the German FAZ Magazine.
Last Monday (18/03), the band performed a concert for the Arte-produced series “Sounds Like Art” in front of a selected audience at the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin. In addition, there were several other exclusive events, including a karaoke event with partners (28/11/2023) and a listening session with the band and 100 fans at Dussmann (19/03). Last night (21/03) the sold-out album release show took place at the Lido in Berlin in collaboration with Rough Trade.
“Real Power,” with its eleven tracks, is an expression of the band’s creativity and strength amidst collective and personal traumas. Characteristic of Gossip, there’s not only a mix of sound textures and genres but also a blend of deep emotions encompassing the entire spectrum of human experiences. The first singles from the album (‘Crazy Again’ and ‘Real Power’) garnered worldwide recognition and propelled the band back to the top of radio playlists and festival line-ups. With today’s album release, the band continues this success story.
